Immortal Romance has a very common type of theme for a film or TV series, and even in slot machines it’s not unusual at all to find it. I’m talking about a vampire theme, which has its own story and four different characters which appear as symbols and have their own features as well. It’s a darker kind of design, but with the usual very attractive vampires that most movies seem to have these days, as opposed to the scary kind, which are far rarer. The Immortal Romance slot will deliver a total of 5 reels, of standard size, so they have 243 ways to win available on them. The top prize in this game gets up to $6,000, but various features will help improve the game. I’m talking about the scatter symbols, wilds, multipliers and the four types of free spins which can be triggered in time, each one with its own extras.
The bets work with a fixed number of lines, 30 in this case, even though the actual layout has 243 ways to win. You may use between 1 and 10 coins per line, so between 30 and 300 coins total. The coin value is not very high, allowing you to take it up to $0.10 at most. With a minimum coin value of $0.01, the wager’s range is from $0.30 to $30.
The vampire romance genre has gotten plenty of attention of the last couple of decades, and it is still a favorite today for a lot of people, especially younger ones. The game has four characters here, two men and two women, and each one has its own story, which you can access from the paytable area. They are called Amber, Troy, Michael and Sarah, and they are four of the high paying symbols available in Immortal Romance. The action in this game takes place inside a Gothic style building, perhaps a church or something similar, and you can see the decorations and the mix of golems and angel statues behind the reel section. On the reels, the symbols are part stone made poker cards, part images of castles, lion shaped door knockers, writing utensils, the game logo and the four characters that I mentioned before. The design of this Microgaming title is pretty good, especially when it comes to the higher paying symbols and the surrounding graphics. The Royals are a bit bland though, all of them sporting the same stone made look, in dark gray colors.
The Immortal Romance Logo does two things for you, at the same time. First of all, it acts as the substitute in a new combination, if it happens to land where it is needed. Second, it doubles the payout of that new combination as well, so it has a multiplier attached to it. A wild symbol may not substitute for a scatter symbol. It can pay you directly as well, up to $1,500, if up to five such symbols appear on all five reels. The Chamber of Spins is the feature which gives you free spins, and it is triggered when you have between three and five scattered Door Knocker symbols. These don’t need to be on consecutive reels, the way regular symbols are required to form their combinations. The scatter pays you as well, as much as $6,000 (200x total bet value), depending on how many of the five symbols you get. There are four types of free spins that you can trigger in Immortal Romance, one for each of the four main characters. The first few times you get this feature, you will get Amber’s 10 free spins, with a multiplier of 5x applied to all wins. Starting with your 5th trigger of Chamber of Spins, you get Troy’s 15 free spins to choose, and it will have a Vampire Bats feature which turns random symbols into 2x or 3x multipliers. From the 10th activation forward, you also get the Michael spins unlocked, which gets you 20 rounds that benefit from Rolling Reels and up to 5x multipliers. Finally, we have the Sarah free spins, 20 of them, with a Wild Vine feature that gets you extra wilds. To have this last type of free spins feature unlocked, you need to activate Chamber of Spins at least 15 times. One final feature available is the one called Wild Desire. It’s triggered at random, not through symbols, and it gives you up to five wild reels when that happens.
The base game top payout is worth $6,000, coming via five scatter symbols. The regular combinations pay up to $1,500. Multipliers are offered during the free games, up to 6x for some of them, so you could take the payout up to $9,000. The RTP is as good as in most games that Microgaming puts out, being at 96.86%, a number that I’d consider very good.
Immortal Romance has a dark atmosphere, but with model like vampires, the way they’re portrayed these days, and that should be a plus for it since plenty of people enjoy the genre. It’s got very good features, though they don’t innovate much, and its average Return to Player is on the high end.
